To Spark A Curious STEM Mind, by Tyrone Chandler

Our goal...To spark a curious mind before they decide that engineering "isn't cool".

Elementary and middle school is the most formative time in a young person's life. The best way to instill a lifelong interest in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), is to provide fun, engaging hands on opportunities to explore and to experience it for themselves.

In a unique partnership with Riverside Family Center, our VEX Robotics Middle School team is composed of neighborhood youth that compete monthly within the city and state of Indiana. By its nature, the study of Robotics inherently incorporates all four pillars of STEM.

Vex IQ is a snap-together robotics system designed from the ground up to provide opportunities to future engineers of all skill levels. By packing advanced concepts into an accessible package, the system also naturally encourages teamwork, problem solving and leadership for students as young as the second grade. Middle School age boys & girls are welcome. Contact Tyrone Chandler @ tchandler@uyea.org
