By the Editor

INDIANAPOLIS – December 5, Mayor Joe Hogsett joined Deputy Mayor Judith Thomas, Emcee Karen Campbell of WTHR, and community members to recognize 10 residents as recipients of the 2022 Mayor’s Community Service Award at the Indianapolis Arts Garden.

Dating back to 1993, the Mayor’s Community Service Awards has recognized Indianapolis

residents who have volunteered their time and talents towards the betterment of Indianapolis and those who call it home.

This year’s awards focused on the service of community members between March 2021 and March 2022. “Our city is grateful to the 2022 Community Service Awards honorees,” Mayor Hogsett said. “These individuals come from diverse disciplines and backgrounds—from medicine to business to agriculture. But In every case, they are using their unique talents to benefit our whole city.”

Twenty-one nominations were submitted across several categories, including Education, Sports, Accessibility & Inclusion, and more. Four not-for-profit community leaders were selected to review and score these nominations. The review team consisted of Robin Coffee (President RoundTable), Madeline Mount (President RoundTable), Deb Ehret (Pike Branch Library), and Peggy Neal (President RoundTable). Each recipient will have their name engraved on individual bricks, which will be added to the Mayor’s Volunteer Plaza along the downtown canal.

He sits on the board of several non-profits and advocates for the seniors and youth of his area as a neighborhood liaison to community partners, other community organizations, the Mayor’s office, and companies with ties to the community.”
