PLANNERS

The Planners neighborhood is an area that includes many dearly loved assets. They include the Central Canal, Bertha Ross Park (Golden Hill Park), and the library. New additions are the senior apartment complex, Clifton Square, and the Sprowl Funeral Home. There is a new educational entity that borders our community: Herron-Riverside High School, housed in the former Heslar Naval Armory.

Due to the death of the organization’s former president, Linda Ellis, this year, the Planners are left without leadership. Individuals have reached out regarding our neighborhood plans and our relationship with the city. 

The plans to turn West 29^th Street and West 30^th Street into two-way streets, from the current one-way east and one-way west, are well underway. The 30^th Street Bridge reopening this year is bringing back to life the vitality of our area.

For those who want to attend an in-person neighborhood meeting, two neighborhoods are currently having meetings with representatives from the city, health department, law enforcement, and businesses that are in or serve our area. They are the Riverside Civic League (RCL) and the Northwest Landing Neighborhood Association, formerly the Northwest Civic combined with Neighbors Helping Neighbors. RCL meets the first Thursday of each month at 6:00 pm at the Riverside Park Family Center.
