Groundwork Indy's New Home!

Submitted by: Adam Velazquez, Executive Director

I wanted to reach out and provide a few updates regarding Groundwork Indy. The organization's history of beautifying and cleaning our community's grounds speaks for itself and we're looking forward to continued expansion and growth one volunteer, one project at a time!

Groundwork Indy has been working extremely diligently with Indianapolis Parks to acquire the old Firehouse at 975 Burdsal Parkway. We have finally acquired that space, and have a 20 year lease on the building. Our next step is to begin renovations on the space that should take roughly 10-12 months to complete.

In addition to the building we have also been awarded stewardship of the surrounding acreage and have grand plans an even larger community garden

than previously, building a nature trail that connects the neighborhood to the water and to the 100 year old Hackberry tree, planting of trees, native plants, and the removal of invasive plants.

We will absolutely need assistance and volunteers to build out the outdoor spaces, we are also still in the process of fundraising for the project.

Anyone interested in volunteering their time or donating can reach out to Adam Velazquez Groundwork ED at adam@groundworkindy.org or 317-737-2810
